Marketing & Communications Co-op 2024

I spent six months as a Marketing and Communications Co-op at the Center for Inclusive Computing (CIC), a nonprofit dedicated to systemically transforming computer science programs across the country to increase representation of women and marginalized communities in the field.

During my time there, I worked on a wide range of projects, including templates, data visualizations, reports, papers, slideshows, social media assets, and more. Below, I’ll be highlighting some of the key projects I contributed to.

Five Year Report Template

Five Year Report

For this project, I designed a template for a five-year report, creating dynamic spreads and data visualizations to showcase the growth and impact of the incredible nonprofit I worked with. While the project remains unfinished—my time with the co-op ended before the full report was written—the foundation I built provided a strong visual structure for their final publication.

The page numbers are currently inaccurate, as the order depended on content that wasn’t available at the time. However, this experience reinforced my ability to maintain a consistent visual language, a skill I honed throughout my time at the CIC. Designing a corporate report with both character and excitement was a rewarding challenge, and it deepened my understanding of how to balance professionalism with engaging design.

Data Visualization

Throughout my time at the CIC, I created numerous data visualizations, each presenting a unique challenge as I developed new ways to represent complex information. With little prior experience, this process was both educational and rewarding. It pushed me to refine my eye for detail, ensuring pixel-perfect precision in every design. Now, I have a much stronger understanding of data visualization and design, a skill set I’m grateful to have strengthened.

Slideshows

At the CIC, conferences and presentations are a regular occurrence, and I was responsible for designing the slideshows and data visualizations used in these settings. I collaborated closely with presenters to ensure the slides effectively communicated their message with clarity and impact.

Creating slideshows in middle and high school was one of the first things that sparked my passion for design, so having the opportunity to do this work in a professional setting was an incredibly rewarding experience. Below are some examples of slides I particularly enjoyed designing.
